Zebulon, N.C. - After the Jacksonville Suns (58-45, 18-15) took a lead in the top of the ninth inning, the Carolina Mudcats (47-55, 17-16) rallied for two runs in the ninth, including a Dave Sappelt leadoff home run and Jose Castro walk-off single, for a 3-2 win in front of 2,864 Thursday night at Five County Stadium.
the Suns have taken the first step toward defending their 2009 Southern League Championship by winning the first half division championship and earning a 2010 playoff berth. The Suns will host the first two games of the first-round playoff series at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Suns third baseman Matt Dominguez was named MVP of the 2010 Southern League All-Star Game after going three-for-four with two solo home runs. Dominguez was awarded an engraved bat trophy and a commemorative Tag Heuer watch from the Southern League for his efforts. Full Story Here
